Critical Behavior of Random Resistor Networks Near the Percolation Threshold
We use low-density series expansions to calculate critical exponents for the behavior of random resistor networks near the percolation threshold as a function of the spatial dimension d. By using scaling relations, we obtain values of the conductivity exponent μ. For d=2 we find μ=1.43±0.02, and for d=3, μ=1.95±0.03, in excellent agreement with the experimental result of Abeles et al. Our resul...
متن کاملHysteresis in the random-field Ising model and bootstrap percolation.
We study hysteresis in the random-field Ising model with an asymmetric distribution of quenched fields, in the limit of low disorder in two and three dimensions. We relate the spin flip process to bootstrap percolation, and show that the characteristic length for self-averaging L small star, filled increases as exp[exp(J/Delta)] in 2D, and as exp(exp[exp(J/Delta)]) in 3D, for disorder strength ...
متن کاملSusceptibility and percolation in two-dimensional random field Ising magnets.
The ground-state structure of the two-dimensional random field Ising magnet is studied using exact numerical calculations. First we show that the ferromagnetism, which exists for small system sizes, vanishes with a large excitation at a random field strength-dependent length scale. This breakup length scale L(b) scales exponentially with the squared random field, exp(A/delta(2)). By adding an e...
متن کاملRandom majority percolation
We shall consider the discrete time synchronous random majority-vote cellular automata on the n by n torus, in which every vertex is in one of two states and, at each time step t, every vertex goes into the state the majority of its neighbours had at time t−1 with a small chance p of error independently of all other events. We shall show that, if n is fixed and p is sufficiently small, then the...
متن کاملGlassy Behavior of Random Field Magnets
The key unresolved feature of the random eld Ising model is the complex, history dependent behavior found both in experiments and numerical simulations. It appears that for strong enough disorder, and low temperatures, the system falls out of equilibrium, displaying anomalously slow relaxation and other features characteristic of glassy materials. Recently, it has been proposed that this behavi...
